Recipe For The Best Childhood Ever

Looking back at my childhood, I was truly spoilt ! I was so spoilt, and I don't mean showered with toys, toys and more toys, I was spoilt ... and indeed my cup was running over with Nature, Sunshine, and Imagination ... I also had so much love and laughter, and I will be forever grateful.

Not all children are so fortunate and with this in mind 'The Wildlife Trusts' have been running a campaign called 'Every Child Wild'. The image above and immediately below are from their site, please go over and have a look.

Speaking personally our younger family members are also fortunate,
each and every one of them loves the outdoors and isn't it good to see them enjoy it too.

As it's the weekend, if you know any 'young people' why not have some time out with them and help them enjoy this great 'recipe' on our doorstep ... Nature, Sunshine, Imagination and plenty of love and laughter. Even if it may be raining why not dress appropriately and have some weekend fun!

Now if you are looking for a good food recipe let me point you this way please >

I think most children today miss out by not getting to play outdoors often enough... when I was younger (many years ago... lol) my two sisters and I were sent out to play all day... usually with a ball or skipping rope. We played for hours and had so much fun.

Happy weekend Jan... I hope you have lots of fun xox ♡

My children love to be outdoors and I encourage it. A family walk is fun.

Thanks

We took my son on many outdoor adventures. This is a great campaign to share the great outdoors with your children. Thanks for sharing, have a happy weekend!

We love being outside and since my kids were young we've spent hours in the hills, in the woods and down by the lake. Best place for kids and us too. Takes the edge off life and puts things in perspective again. Your dish looks like winter comfort. Happy day.

Such a great post! It brings back so many memories of my childhood, which was similar. My brothers and I spent very little time indoors. Every day was an adventure!

This is a great article and so important. Children should enjoy the outdoors and not be on computers as so many are. Let them see and experience nature. Just a wonderful read with wonderful photo's too.

Like you, I had the most wonderful childhood.....always outside with Dad or running though parks and woods with my brothers. Home to Mum and a homemade meal ready on the table.

I love the fact the wildlife trust have brought this to the forefront......great idea.
My Grandchildren all love the outdoors, and I personally encourage that.

Love the images.....so beautiful, they looks so healthy and happy :)

What a wonderful idea.

I grew up that way. Imagination and nature were the only thing we could afford but that is a blessing. I would not trade it for any other way.

Thank you for visiting, Jan. I enjoy those visits and rather proud that you enjoy them.

Skipping outdoors was something I remember from my childhood too - outdoor play should always be encouraged.

Many thanks for your comment - hope your weekend is going well

Yes, a family walk can be so much fun - sometimes suggestions like this are met with groans! Just make it a fun event and everyone enjoys it, then come home to a tasty meal - great way to spend time I think ...

Many thanks for your comment.

Thank you so much for your comments. Yes time spent outdoors can make for a great adventure and really needs to be encouraged. I think this campaign is a good one and just hope that it does encourage more to get out, keep safe, but have fun.

Hope your weekend is going well

Many thanks for your thoughts and comments here. Time spent in the hills, in the woods and down by the lake sounds an excellent past-time. We do need to encourage all to take time out and enjoy their surroundings. Taking time out in the fresh air is so good for the body and soul.

The casserole I featured is one of our favourites.

Have a lovely weekend

Oh it is so good to have memories like yours, spending time with our brothers / sisters / friends outside is such an important part of growing up - and should be encouraged.

Many thanks for your comment - have a lovely weekend

Yes, computers are very much part of 'modern living' and there is a place for them. However, it is important to make time for children (and adults) to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. A walk in the park can be so uplifting.

Thank you for your comment, hope you may get the opportunity to spend some time outside over this weekend.

Many thanks for your comments, and may I say I enjoyed your recent post with those sweet girls too! Making memories, spending time outside playing and having fun should be available to all children ... adults too can enjoy time outside.
Glad you liked the photo's ...

I do like the idea of this campaign and hope it is successful for the Wildlife Trusts.

Happy Weekend Wishes

Thank you so much for your lovely comments.
Just one of the many happy family memories I also have are the family picnics we used to enjoy ... which were just family walks in the winter months... but those happy summer picnics were a joy and the memories have proved to be so precious. We take so much for granted when growing up - everything we do can provide lasting future memories, which can often be so special.

Like you I do hope this campaign proves to be successful for The Wildlife Trusts.

Hope you've had an enjoyable Saturday, good wishes for tomorrow.

Yes, play and imagination are such an important part of growing up ... many do lose this as they get older, which I think can be a shame. I do my best to spend time outdoors, and I know you do to, being outside can be so calming and it does lift the spirits too.

Thank you for your kind comments ...

Happy Weekend Wishes

Hello Jan, a lovely post, sweet, sweet children and family pics. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your always lovely comments. We just came back from celebrating Thanksgiving with family, had a lovely time but now it's back to being good and getting some inspiration with these wonderful recipes you provide. Thank you so much and have a great week :)

Love the pictures of the kids! My kids and grandkids all love being outdoors ... running, biking, climbing, camping for the bigs ... and just playing for the littles.

That pork casserole looks delicious ... and so easy to prepare. Thanks!

I couldn't agree more. When ours were little we were on walks, at the park, going to the beach, anywhere we could to get them out and about and noticing stuff. I hope in years to come they remember the picnics, trails and games with affection even if they moaned about 'another walk' at the time!
Lovely photos of your little ones having fun.

Yes I'm another who was brought up in the Great Outdoors from an early age. It's still nice to see the young kiddies in the nature reserves and elsewhere being as enthusiastic as I was. But sad to see how many never stray far from their cars.

I am pleased to hear you had a very nice Thanksgiving with the family.
Family time, outdoor time, making memories to be treasured - you can't beat it!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures and the article.
I know you've just had 'Christmas' with your family, and had a lovely time. It is great to get-together and spend time both indoors and out enjoying each others company and having fun.
Childhood can provide great memories and life long 'habits' of enjoying nature and the outdoors ...

Have a good week ahead ... and yes, that pork casserole is delicious and very easy to do!

... funny you should mention the moan about the walks, I know youngsters can do this ... but if we can encourage a liking of outdoors and make nature fun, then in my experience having a trip / walk out with the family can be so enjoyable. I'm sure you did the same but I always used to play a game with mine e.g. who can point to a yellow flower, who can find a leaf with different colours of green etc. etc
We can only do our best to encourage an interest in our surroundings.

Many thanks for your comments both here and around the blog - hope the week ahead goes well for you.

I'm with you ... I like to see families enjoying the many parks and nature reserves that are around. I used to spend a lot of time with my dear mum and friends in our local park after school, it was great to enjoy being outside.
Yes, of course many use the car to get there and some only venture a little way away but at least they are out in the fresh air - it's a small start!

Many thanks for your thoughts and comments, both here and around the blog, they are always appreciated.
